چکیده

Superconducting SrTiO 3−δ was obtained by annealing single crystalline SrTiO3 samples in ultra high vacuum. An analysis of the V (I) characteristics revealed very small critical currents Ic which can be traced back to a unavoidable doping inhomogeneity. R(T) curves were measured for a range of magnetic fields B at I ≪ Ic, thereby probing only the sample regions with highest doping level. The resulting curves Bc2(T) show upward curvature, both at small and strong doping. These results are discussed in the context of bipolaronic and conventional superconductivity with Fermi surface anisotropy. We conclude that the special superconducting properties of SrTiO 3−δ can be related to its Fermi surface and compare this finding with properties of the recently discovered superconductor MgB2.

Termination control of electronic phases in oxide thin films and interfaces: LaAlO3/SrTiO3(001).

A wealth of intriguing properties emerge in the seemingly simple system composed of the band insulators LaAlO(3) and SrTiO(3) such as a two-dimensional electron gas, superconductivity and magnetism. In this paper, we review the current insight obtained from first principles calculations on the mechanisms governing the behaviour of thin LaAlO(3) films on SrTiO(3)(001). In particular, we explore ...

Electronic phase separation at the LaAlO₃/SrTiO₃ interface.

There are many electronic and magnetic properties exhibited by complex oxides. Electronic phase separation (EPS) is one of those, the presence of which can be linked to exotic behaviours, such as colossal magnetoresistance, metal-insulator transition and high-temperature superconductivity. A variety of new and unusual electronic phases at the interfaces between complex oxides, in particular bet...

Coexistence of superconductivity and magnetic ordering or their mutually exclusive existence in solids is one of the fundamental problems of solid state physics. To determine the effect of Pr substitution for Gd on electrical and magnetic properties of RuGd1.5Ce0.5Sr2Cu2O10-δ (Ru-1222), Ru(Gd1.5-xPrx)Ce0.5Sr2Cu2O10-δ with x=0.0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.03 3 , 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.1 have been prepared by...

Coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism in two dimensions.

Ferromagnetism is usually considered to be incompatible with conventional superconductivity, as it destroys the singlet correlations responsible for the pairing interaction. Superconductivity and ferromagnetism are known to coexist in only a few bulk rare-earth materials. Here we report evidence for their coexistence in a two-dimensional system: the interface between two bulk insulators, LaAlO(...

Anisotropic two-dimensional electron gas at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 (110) interface

The observation of a high-mobility two-dimensional electron gas between two insulating complex oxides, especially LaAlO₃/SrTiO₃, has enhanced the potential of oxides for electronics. The occurrence of this conductivity is believed to be driven by polarization discontinuity, leading to an electronic reconstruction. In this scenario, the crystal orientation has an important role and no conductivi...
